On August 26, 2020, Sendai KOSEN and KDDI Corporation (KDDI) signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on education and collaborative research using advanced technologies such as 5G (the next-generation communication standard) and IoT (Internet of Things).
We aim to foster students who can solve regional issues.

2. Build an entrepreneurial mindset
3. Programing education for school children
4. Collaborative research of advanced technology and its application
From the 2021 academic year, we will install 5G base stations at both Hirose and Natori Campuses. We will connect with other KOSENs online to conduct remote classes and collaborative research for the resolution of regional issues using 5G, IoT, and drones.
A ceremony was held at Sendai KOSEN, Hirose Campus. Shigeki Matsuno (Director and Deputy General Manager, Corporate Strategy Planning Division, KDDI), joined the ceremony online from Tokyo. Director Matsuno said “Sendai KOSEN is well-known for telecommunication engineering and holds the largest number of students among all KOSENs in Japan. We wish to promote research to contribute to society with advanced technologies, and foster engineers to support advanced technologies in regional areas.” President Fukumura said “We expect to make good use of KDDI’s technologies for education and research, and we hope that this will lead to technological development and the creation of venture companies.”
